Restoration and Repairs:
Old Ways for a New Generation
To often in our generation, when something breaks we throw it out. Have we succumbed to a hopelessness that believes things are beyond fixing? Many of us have a vivid history but we are losing our heritage as the goods that connect us to the past fall into disrepair and are discarded. Change is constant and we must adapt but we need not dismiss the past merely for the sake of new. We believe all of us can carry on the values of the past while adapting to a changing future. After all, it was a willingness by those who have gone before to change and innovate that built what we have today. We can accept the new and change with the world yet do so in a meaningful way. We need not sacrifice the values of the past to step boldly and freely into the future. Rather than throw out those old items from your parents or grandparents, why not restore them for another generation of use. At Provident Leather Co. we hope we can offer you timely repairs and restorations. Continue the legacy. Let us know how we can help you do that.

Product Care
Leather is one of the oldest and most durable man made materials. However, remember that leather was at one point a living, breathing creature. It needs to continue to be treated as such. Properly caring for your leather can prevent the need for repairs. Heres a few tips to help you prolong the life of your cherished leather goods for generations to come.
- Though most leather is water resistant, prolonged exposure to moisture can actually dry out and weaken the integrity of the leather.
- Conversely, leather must be properly hydrated to maintain its supple nature. We whole heartedly endorse all Bickmore products.
- Feel free to clean your leather with a warm, damp rag but follow up with some kind of leather conditioner. Use Bick 4 for general conditioning.
- In extreme cases of neglect, use Neatsfoot Oil to resurrect your good. This will darken the color of the leather slightly so use with caution.
- For cloth goods, spot wash or hand wash with a mild detergent, remembering to take care where leather and fabric meet.
- Provident Leather Co. provides repair work for both PLC goods and items not produced by us. Let us know if we can repair your treasured good.
